The McKenna Life Sciences, Business and Entrepreneurship Program at Arizona State University accepts an annual cohort of 30 first-year students, enrolled in on-campus, in-person degree programs, who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential. 

Review the steps below to be considered for the next cohort.

Step 1: Apply to ASU and declare your primary major.

Make sure to select one of the identified degree options for the McKenna Program. These include majors in artificial intelligence in business, business entrepreneurship, biochemistry, biochemistry (medicinal chemistry), biological sciences (biomedical sciences), data science, finance and neuroscience

Prospective students should apply to ASU at least four weeks before the Barrett, The Honors College deadline.

When completing the ASU application, self-reporting grades will results in a significantly faster university decision. The Common Application is another option to apply to ASU.

Step 2: Apply to the McKenna Program.

Students interested in the McKenna Program must first apply to ASU and then may begin the separate program application.

Once you’ve completed your ASU application, you can apply to the McKenna Program. Make sure to carefully review program and application requirements. To be considered for the McKenna Program, you must also apply to Barrett, The Honors College.

November 1, 2026: Early action application 

January 15, 2026: Regular decision

March 15, 2027: Late consideration. 

Step 3: Keep an eye out for an interview invite and final application decision.

Program finalists will be contacted in January to schedule a virtual interview. After interviews are complete, selected program participants will be notified early spring. The McKenna Program will admit students on a rolling basis through June 2027. Students are encouraged to apply early, as admission will close once the 30-student cohort has been selected.

In the meantime, make sure you’ve completed My ASU priority tasks and any other to-dos.
